HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

Through the generosity of Sponsors, SSP helps disadvantaged students in New York City attend and succeed at quality non-public high schools. Without this support, these young people would attend under-performing public high schools and be at a greater risk of dropping out of school.

Anyone who wants to sponsor a student must submit an application.

Sponsors
donate their time, mentoring a student throughout high school. They also make a four-year commitment to pay all or the majority of the student's tuition, which is typically around $3,350 annually.

Sponsor Teams are groups of friends or colleagues who pool their donations to fully fund a student’s annual tuition, while one member of the network takes on the mentoring responsibility.  Financial supporters within the group need not have a formal relationship with the student, but are encouraged to remain engaged with the student’s progress through the mentor.

Committed Friends
provide much needed financial support, but do not make a time commitment to students. Like Sponsors, Committed Friends pay for all or the majority of a student's tuition. They are paired with...

Time Sponsors, who contribute their time and a smaller annual contribution of at least $250.

Scholars Circle and Founders Circle members pay the full tuition for multiple students. Scholars Circle members give at least $10,000 annually and Founders Circle members give at least $25,000 annually.

In order to ensure the safety of our students, Sponsors and Time Sponsors are also asked to submit information and provide approval for a background security check using the National Criminal Database. Occasionally they will also be asked to provide references from colleagues or friends.

SSP also welcomes the support of donors who aren't able to make the four year commitment described above - please visit our Annual Appeal page to find out more.
